Thread: Advantages of Jet Boats?

Jets and safety
No moving parts, but the jet wash can be very dangerous if it catches someone the wrong way. Ever notice the sticker on the back of PWCs that warns to keep the jet wash away from eyes, ears, mouth, anus, and vagina? Worked with a guy who was fighting a multi million dollar lawsuit because his kid had a friend on the back of a waverunner. Fell off, landed on his back and the jetwash went up his butt and blew his intestines apart. Not a common occurrence but something to be aware of.Ron V

I agree there are still dangers associated with the jet drive however they are far less likely to cause problems than a boat with a prop. I can't see encounters with a prop drive ever ending well. And heck they can be almost as dangerous when the transmission isn't even engaged, especially on a performance boat when the props are often particularly sharp.

Have seen speed skiiers with the same and worse injury when they come off their waterski behind an outboard driven boat, ripped their wetsuit and all. I guess it's up to your buddy to prove it was the water jet rather than just the water and inertia.
Want to participate in motorsport, there are risks involved. Sometimes accidents happen. Don't want to get hurt? Don't participate. Why is there a definate mentality of needing to blame someone instead of taking responsibility for our own actions?

Hi 150aintenuff
It's a stock panther pump. In that shot I was trying different settings on the ride plate. I need a longer ride plate. the one on there is only 11 inch long.

Im not sure how you build a "one peice" stepped bottom boat? Nor would I really think its a good idea. Not many boats need the same strength in all area's so for me its either too strong (and heavy) all over or too light in some area's.
Lots of interesting "one of" boats have been built in aluminum. Here's one we did years ago.
