    E-Tec 250 HO / 300 questions

    Hi!

Just a few questions rearding E-tec 250 HO / 300 (when it will be released).

    - What kind of lower unit will be fitted to these engines?
    - What is the highest propshaft height they can run? I need to run the propshafts at least 1 inch below the bottom on a twin setup (Phantom 25 offshore hull). Lower will steal speed.
    - What is the width of the cowlings?

    Thanks!

    Cheeers, Toffen G

250HO will come with the newly designed gearcase, essentially a coned Magnum case with a different gear ratio and different water pickups. How high can it be run, I don't know. I know the lightning gearcase will not hold up at 1" below pad without some work to be sure the bearing carrier doesn't walk out. The new case might hold together better, but I have not heard one way or the other yet.

The 300 is going to come with a Magnum, I am hearing it will only be available in 25" and 30" shaft lengths. Doubt it will get water pressure at 1" below pad.

I am pretty sure the cowling width will be identical to the 225HO. They increased the displacement a tad (3.4L instead of 3.3L) by increasing the stroke.

The 250HO and 300 have a longer stroker (to get to 3.4L). How did they get it ?
    • Taller deck (different block) ?
    • shorter rods ?
    • higher pin height ?
I have also heard they have a "simpler" (?) exhaust system. What does that really mean ?

    What else changed ?

New crank and new cylinder head.
for the exaust system ,i don't have any clue ,i think they are not using the eagle/08 discharge valve, wich is very complicated..

If the crank has a longer stroke, and you are using the same pistons and rods won't the edge of the piston be above the top of the block (unless the previous engine had a lot of "head room") ?

Where can I find out more about this valve ?

i'll check what i have about this valve,it's quite same the IPVS(yammis) motorcicle. I think you can get more power (maybe 20/30%) just cracking the EMM software wich i think it's almost impossible(certainly it's a crime in USA),so them you can enrich each cylinder , use more air, change the HP curve and make more RPM's.I don't know much about competition ,my main target is to keep the engines running, not breaking.

here is the only way you can increase stroke using the same head

longer stroke shorter rods same piston pin position.

longer stroke same length rods and raised piston pin position
