For all of Phil's friends and family I am very sorry for your loss.
I only had the pleasure of knowing Phil an afternoon. It is
amazing at how many lives Phil has touched, including my own.
I was the first to reach him, and jumped in to keep his head out
of the water until more help arrived. I hope that if these were
his last moments he felt safe in my arms. I'd like to thank Helmut,
Frank, Mike, Jimbo and Shaun for the great effort all of you put
into trying to save this great man. We did everything we could
Phil, I am sorry. I hope you have the fastest STV in the sky.
    God bless you.

It is hard enough to TRY and save a life, it is devastating to go over the details and wonder what else you could have done. Matt, an angel will shine on you for your efforts and Phil will look down with a smile from the Diamond Marine Shrine in the sky.

I KNOW the thoughts that are running thru your head, been there....We as humans, morn mortality. As the doctors told you, you did the best you could do and the end was inevitable

Phil chose to run fast, something that he loved dearly. IF it was up to Phil, he would say THANK YOU and expect you ALL to run a fast lap for him

Matt, you know what the investigator told us, we did our best but Phil was gone immediately. I'm sorry I missed you leaving Jimbo's at 5am to get home to your children. I wanted to speak with you some more before you left.. They are lucky to have you as a dad and I'm lucky to have you as a friend. People aren’t any better than you..Ill see you again

I too have known Phil for 44 years. I can say for all the Davis Cabin friends that we were there at the beginning of Phil's boating life. His first boat was as small as we were, you could hold it in the palm of your hand. We all watched while Phil controled it from the shore of Lake Sunapee. I remember that he was always trying to make adjustment, mechanically and with the fuel as speed was a must! That has never changed.
I remember one summer I went up to Davis Cabins after missing a few years. I found Phil in the boat house standing in the water next to his tied up speed boat looking for a wrench he had dropped in the water while making some adjustment. I said to him "Phil this is where I left you a few years ago" we both laughed and I got a big wet hug after he climbed out of the water.
We all will have a void in our lives due to Phil's passing, Cabin 16 will always be his.
