The seacraft #202 (Star I) was driven by Steve Sirois & Jim Tebo in the 1968 Bahamas 500. The 202 built after that was a yellow magnum (Star II). The boat you have pictured looks like the same magnum but repainted a different color than the original yellow? I'm guessing your dad drove the later 202 after 1968 the star II yellow Magnum or the pacemaker (the brown boat above)

Parker...You dad was and will always be a legend. In addition to his rich racing history, he also holds a title that few know about. In 1964, he water skied form St. Pete to New York for the start of the 1964 New York Worlds Fair. I have attached a link below about local boat racing. It is all great reading, but on page 3 on the right side of the page, you will see Offshore Powerboat Racing which talks about Randy and the Hurricane Classic. Page 4 has a nice picture of 202 It brings back a lot of great memories...

Parker - That is a question that I cannot answer. Perhaps someone else reading this will know. I do remember the 202 in the Rabco yard with many other aquatic hotrods, but I don't know if that number 202 was only used by Randy. If you are a member of APBA, I would think you could go into their archives around that time period to see if anyone else may have held the 202 number before your dad.

Wow, I never imagined that an organization that had so many rules and regulations and cost so much to join was operating in the dark ages. I remember back in the old days that every year members got a hand book with all the member names, boat numbers and classes. I can't believe that those never made it to the web. I have not been a member since the mid 80's, but it looks like nothing has changed. I shouldn't say that because I am sure that the membership dues have changed over the years and not in favor of the racers.

I was living in New York at the time and was at the Worlds Fair on Sunday, August 9th, 1964, the day they skied into Flushing Bay after their 17 day journey. It made the front page of the New York Times the next day. At that time I had no idea who Randy Rabe was nor did I know that our paths would cross again 10 years later in St. Pete. It is a small world after all....

boat I.D.'s .....
Don't know if this helps ..... I drove this "Six Pack" at Lake X around 69, owned by Juan Fernandez at the time. It's not the same as the other "Six Pack" pictured above.
The second pic is #202 with Randy aboard ..... caption says he won first outboard and fifth overall in the (68 ?) Bahama 500 in a 28' Memco.
