    Question Lefty lower shifts Wrong???

Is ther way to convert it so when I push the lever forward I go that way??? Not into reverse???

I'm recabling and adding a shifter for my now shifting left lower, the problem is how to make it work correctly?? Do I need to mount the cable from the front of my shifter ( that cable will look like crap) I cann't go to the bottom of the shifter to reverse the throw either ( is it the wrong shifter??)

Help I need to get these cables ordered

Something is not right there. You shouldn't have to convert anything. You're not using a left-rotation lower unit with a right-rotation prop, are you?

NO !! the lower is a lefty (I got it from Ronnie) ??? and the prop is lefty.. the problem is that under the cowl it still is being pushed to the reverse position to get it to spin left
    Does that make sence???

This is going to suck ...your telling me that there is no way to make it work?? I was just back out there and if the cable has to run to the front then I'm going to have to redesign them....If it comes out the front it will run into the dash.........I guess I can add on the the shifter bottom and make it swing from under instead of over the cam bolt on it???

On my motors, the right hand rotation lower, shifts to forward when you pull the linkage on the motor towards the front of the boat. the left hand rotation lower, shifts to forward when you push the linkage towards the back of the boat. My shifter is designed so I can hook the right cable high on the shifter (above the pivot center) so it pulls when you shift to foward, the left cable is fastened low on the shifter(below the pivot center) so it pushes when you shift to forward. Take a good look at your shifter. Maybe its capable of this.

    "10-4" you need another section = 2 shift & 2 throttle. I get it.

Ok what I did leave out is that my Skater is OEM
all original everything (ok One w/p has been changed) and I kinda like the idea of keeping it that way...... I'm rebuilding the original motors now...I did change the Locking left to a shifting CLE and plan to upgrade the right one too.... other than that it's a great lake boat and I just want to keep it that way

The older mercury left hand gear cases were run in reverse to go forward and vice versa. Not sure if they still do it that way, but they used a heavy duty carrier and bearings to carry the load.
