    Something for V-4 fans

But its not an OMC. It is an Italian made Carniti . This is one of the early models; a forward facing V-4 with expansion chambers. The carbs are in the V, below the ignition coil. This was one of the first looper/expansion chamber racing outboards. After this came out in 1961 it was downhill for deflector motors with megaphones in the alky classes.

This motor won the 500cc (30 cubic inch) World Championship in 1962.

    Sam,
How many of these engines were ever built? I assume they were raced primarily in Europe. Very nice picture.

A friend just emailed me these pictures of an apparently earlier version of the Carniti V-4 racer made in Italy around 1960
