Getting back into it - BMX
It's time for a little change, so I decided to start riding BMX again. I used to race for the ABA, finishing 'Expert' class in NY with over 60 trophies . That was years ago, and now it's time to try my luck on the ramps and halfpipe instead of the dirt race track. I just ordered a Felt Chronic, and I'm hittin' the street with it. I need to spend more time away from the computer. Street/flatland BMX is new to me, but it will be a nice change. I still ride my mountain bike everyday, and this will just be another chance to get riding time in. Who wants to go riding?

Ummmmm?????? Wheres the motor???
Ummmm seat looks a little small for my AZZ!! and no back rest??? or cup holder??
I think I've seen something like that one before out in the garage but it looked different with all the junk piled around it and no cloths and rags hanging from it... I hear they make a indoor version but most use them for a clothes rack in the spare room.....

Greg , you seem a little young to be going through a Mid Life Chrises . Even I'm smart enough to know I don't bounch as well as I use to . After all I'm only 45 and can't sleep sometimes because of the aches and pain of broken ancles and wrist .If you insist on doing this I'd sudgest sticking to Flat Land , not nearly as far to fall ! Does he still have a boat?

has had some biking shows on lately. On one they were somewhere, I believe it was, in the New Mexico mts going on some famous bikikng trail. The girl pionted out that if you lose control your dead. Hope you adviod those type of trails, but then I'm sure that any expert trail can be dangerous.

Thumbs up Greg
I've been totally wating to go back to BMX as well, even though I was never very good. Does Mongoose still exist - that's what I can remember wanting when I was little. I guess you could call this a pre-mid-life crisis - I turn 30 in a few months.
And guys, don't knock the "kids stuff" too much. My best friend owns a factory that builds downhill racing skateboards. Several hundred grand in sales a year, and a hell of a fun way to make a living.

Right on Matt - just do it. All the haters here just don't like a small risk now and then.
Mongoose is still around, although they (like GT) were purchased by Pacific Cycle and are now offering Wal-Mart bikes. Mongoose still offers pro-level models, but they lost a lot of the fame they once had. At least GT has not gone the route of selling low-end bikes. I still remember my nickel plated Mongoose Californian - a very rare bike that was mint (most were chrome plated, not nickel) - and my parents sold it for $30 before I moved here! It was sitting in their attic, and they thought it was "just some old bike from when I was little". I am still annoyed at that.
Sam, SE Racing is still around, but P.K. Ripper is long gone. If I had my choice, I would ride late a 80s Redline RL-20II. Those are fetching some serious money now as collector bikes. Back in the day I raced on a sponsorship from Free Agent, but I also raced Hutch Judge models, and a Redline 600a.
On another note, Kappa produces remakes of some Hutch models, but with modern fittings, etc. Not sure which model they are selling, but the geometry looks different than the Judge models I used to race.
I'm going to build a vintage bike again though, just for fun. I still have a NOS Skyway frame here.
