You can see were the drive on the right side of Flash Gordon came out causing the boat to turn right into the Nashville Catz.
That's just a bad day for boating.
I hope we learn something from it.

Hummnn a awfull tragedy . Looks to me the running surface collapsed on the eliminator just forward of the transom on the right side, the amount of bits and pieces left in the water, unreal.

Watch this video link of Flash Gordon running around 100 mph less than 20' away from the guy filming this with his family in the boat and several others that were obviously already floating around and tell me what part of this is "safe operation" of this very dangerous boat.
Its sad that this happend but at some point your actions can catch up to haunt you and others.Maybe he had more faith in those drive not failing than he should have.

If ever drove that fast that close to me and my family he would get a fast pitch beer can to the side of his boat.Yal can flame me if you feel you must but that $hit dont fly with me.God rest their soles.Truly a tragity and in my prayers are the dead.Last edited by Hot Shot Merc; 10-12-2006 at 06:36 AM.

I totally agree with you Hot Shot Merc!!! It could of happened to any of us. If you lose control of a boat that size and speed you could literally kill dozens of people if you run that close to them. I dont know about the law in Ok, but here in Texas if you pass someone on plane that close it is against the law. Not to mention you would definately get a Beer can to the side of the boat as stated earlier. My prayers are with the lives lost and thier familys. Just goes to show you that you never know when its your time. Shayne

Looks like a semi-final police report....
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Investigators cannot determine whether a mechanical malfunction caused a Lake Texoma collision between two jet boats that killed five people, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokeswoman said Monday.
Witnesses reported that the Sept. 2 collision between the "Flash Gordon," a 36-foot, custom-built, turbine-powered catamaran, and the "Nashville Katz," which had a potential top speed of about 150 mph, occurred at speeds close to 100 mph. The impact destroyed both vessels, complicating investigators' attempts to reconstruct what happened.
Trooper Kera Philippi said the "Flash Gordon" was so badly damaged that it could not be determined whether it had a mechanical malfunction before it veered into the path of the other boat.
Authorities previously ruled out alcohol as a factor and said they might never know whether excessive speed played a role in the collision in which Texas residents in one boat and a passenger from Tennessee in another were killed.
Both boats were participating in the "Highroller Poker Run," in which participants paid a $500 entry fee and received a playing card at each of five stops.
The boat with the best poker hand at the end was the winner. Speed is not intended to be a factor to help contestants win.
