Heading out to Key Largo tomorrow for some E-Tec evaluations (updates inside).
Early tomorrow I'll be heading to Key Largo to spend a few days with some E-Tec engines. I'll have Internet access at the hotel, so I'll be posting updates everyday. As always, if you have any specific questions you would like me to direct to the BRP engineers, etc., let me know and I'll do my best.

Here's some questions I'd like answered:
Is the Rouen race-engine a standard production power head or has it been modified in any way? Also, is it a 2.6 or 3.3 liter?
What sizes will the small e-tecs be, and when will they be ready?
Did their new high-performance gear case ever go into production? What's it called, Magnum or Lightning? If you see one, maybe you can post some close ups.
Have fun down there!Any fool can make something complicated - it takes a genius to make it simple.

Greg - how are ya! Great to see you posting. I hope all is well. No need to worry, I'm prepared for some E-Tec power.
Dave - will do!
msm - I asked your questions. Answers as follows:
The Evinrudes at Rouen are not part of a factory involved venture, so they do not know if they are in fact real E-Tecs. They are aware of the engines, however. I think we need a photo with the cowl off.
E-Tec engine size focus is 40 horsepower and above. No current plans for a 300, although "anything is possible".
There is a boat here equipped with the Magnum lower unit, however, no official word on production. The BRP staff made it clear to me that they want me aboard that boat. I'll be happy to give it a try. Of course, you can expect a full report and photos. I'm really pleased that the BRP people are well aware of Scream And Fly's content and what we're after.
The BRP staff is treating me like royalty - a big thanks to them for their invitation to this event.

I really don't understand CP's comment. I for one am very happy you were invited to this. It shows the impact that this board has had and can have with future development/marketing of the boats/motors we love.
You would not have been invited if the Marketing Department of BRP
wouldn't have thought your/our imput wasn't of interest to them.
I have noticed an increase in negative comments throughout this board. I really don't understand what value this adds to any discussions here.
Then again I don't understand road rage much less forum board rage.
Thanks for your efforts-the board is a great tool for all of us.

I agree with Jim. I think it's a great honor to be invited to events such as this by companies like BRP and Mercury (Brunswick). I think it shows that this site is considered as an important outlet to the high performance boating community now by the big boys.
Congratulations to Greg, and thanks to both BRP and Mercury for sharing this access directly with us.Membership upgrade options: http://www.screamandfly.com/payments.php

Be Carefull Greg, If the BRP folks know your relationship with Mercury, it mite be a trick! Also it's a good thing it's "E-TECH" motors instead of the fitch motors, or you would need to learn spanish quick cause your next stop would be CUBA! Have a good time!
