Paris 6 Hours October 5 1975..42 years ago tomorrow.....

    PARIS 6 Hours 1975

After Lorentz Näslund and I finished third in Paris 1974..we where now ready for a win in the OE class.
My Nacka Asfalt/Clerici/Evinrude Hustler SE boat was well prepared for the race..
The entry form was in time to Mr. Blodinare..
    Race number 69.
Well..a good start don’t help when you hit something a few laps later and break the gear case at the far end of the race course..
Two hours to get back to the pit and the race was over..
We left Paris for a Evinrude dealer meeting on the Canary Islands
My friend Per Benson took Lorentz van and my boat back to Sweden..
I told Per.. please remember to stamp the Carne ATA document out of France..
He forgot that and a letter from OMC came later in the mail ..
My dream of winning Paris 6 hours was still a dream
This was also the last Paris with Lorentz as a co-pilot.

Thank you Amaury Jousseaume for the picture.
I remember when your dad Didier and his brother Paul took the overall win in the Paris 6 hour race 1975. Driving the #13 boat above with a Evinrude Super Strangler two liter V6 cross-flow engine.

Jimbo McConnell in a lay-down tunnel boat 1977

Not sure about this boat, but the power is an Evinrude V6 CCC 2.448 cross-flow.
OMC was very active back in the seventies.

    EDIT:
Jimbo raced this boat in Beloit 1977 and finished 3rd

For all of us loving OMC racing this was the man telling you yes or no when it came to racing.
I got a few No..but more Yes from Jack Leek.

I have just been informed Clarence Blanchard passed 10/4/17. Clarence was the designer for Jack Leek and the race tem. The Darth Vader gear case was his design. He was involved in many of the race group program and was responsible for the first V-6 race motor that won Paris '73. He and Jim Nerstrom work closely together on many of the engine programs. May he rest in peace.
