I'm not exactly understanding what you are saying Don. I think you are saying that the 2nd fastest on The List, the Bernico, required 385hp to make the 98.1 mph GPS speed?

That's not the case. Those are two different boats & motors. The #2 boat is a stock boat with a stock 300XS that Dave owns. The boat in parenthesis is a second Bernico just for illustration.

Checkmates are more of a mass production builder. There quality is ok but not on par with progression superboat ect... They are more of a lake boat in my eyes and is no way faster than the others for our application. It's a different boat and shouldn't be on a list with the others. Randy has/had a 21 super w a x on it. It would be interesting if he chimed in on the comparison. But in my book there not on the level of the progression tuffs supers of the world.

And you are correct Don Geiger, the 300XS must be stock. Although I need to correct the WOT RPM on the list and drop it from 6400 to 6300 per the Mercury manual specs posted earlier.

No apology needed whatsoever. This is a long thread so I like to keep it on track (with data) for those who are interested and free of drama. I believe you are running a super cool Pulsare 2100 with a new school SHO? If the boat is right there in your garage it would be interesting to know the freeboard measurement on the outside as well as the floor to top of gunnel distance on the inside at the drivers bucket. Thanks.

Deadrise angle is only one piece of the rough water equation but I agree with you, the deck plug would be different for the two models but the hull plug should be identical. Therefore the freeboard on the outside would be the same for either model so I'm curious on that measurement. As far as the floor to gunnel inside I have no idea if Checkmate uses a different liner for the Long Deck -vs- Bowrider but I'm sure someone does. Probably Jupiter would know.

Here is a pic as an example of another 22 ............
