if you have a volt meter, you can use the resistance setting to check the sending unit,as it is a potentiometer that uses resistance to send the signal to the gauge.if you dont see an increase or decrease in the reading on the meter as you move the sending unit arm, then the sender is bad.i hope this helps!

Yes it does immensly. Now that I know how it works I'll be able to test the circut and determine if it's the gauge, sending unit,or I've just got it hooked up wrong.

I've figured out one thing, you can't just ground the gauge as you would others normally. I believe ya gotta use one of the two black wires coming off the sender for the ground and the other for the sense if that's how it works, which tells me I have it hooked up wrong at the moment. Again, thanks!

thats correct.one of the wires from the sender goes to the ground and the other to the "s" on the gauge.if you hook them backwards, the gauge will read backwards.also, make sure your sender is grounded to the transom bracket via one of the mounting screws too.good luck!

Yup, that's what I've been doing wrong then. I'll run another wire tomorrow and get it hooked up right finally. Couldn't mess with it today had too many other things around the house to do, lol

That particular boat is built as a "comp" model, it doesnt have the forward live well like most Varmints.
Fishing from one is not bad considering what it is, especially if you're up front.

You'd have to ask the owner those questions for exact answers, but I'm sure it runs 90+ with the right wheel on it. As for price, IDK.... if it doesnt go to Minneapolis, it'll likely end up on here in 'hulls under 20'
