I'm in the same boat with my 23 eliminator daytona....they see tunnel hull and the answer is NO ! Iv Been thru every major ins company, most recent Foremost (Safeco) they wrote me and binded an awesome policy 3 weeks ago...without notice, today, I received a full refund in my checking acct..
Agent called underwriting, who he had on the phone while writing the policy. They said even though the boat qualifies in our policy drop down menu, these boats are not eligible.
Needless to say...im a little pissed.
If it does not qualify....take the damn thing out of your system.
I'm going to try Stacy at Wake Zone ins

Insurance companies are not concerned with the "value of your boat." They are worried about the litigation after you run over a jet ski at 125 mph. There is no defense. The liability coverage on your "boat policy" is probably $100,000, maybe $200,000 at most. Wrongful death litigation will start in the millions. So you think you're insured . . . . . . . . . . . .

I just got dropped by Safeco...stating these types of boats do not qualify.
However I just found out Foremost will write a liability policy no problem 300,000 for $138/ yr. They will write boat coverage for around 8,000 above that I need a marine appraisal. 8,000 is better than nothing.

However....you are correct ! An incident like that will be above and beyond
But at least it's something for more of a minor incident.

I insured my 95 Allison with a 200xs boat, motor, and trailer for $20,000 thru State Farm. Had my Hydrostream insured (don't remember the company) and first claim they tell me they don't insure "those kinds of boats" even though they had no issues taking my premium payments. Seems to be a bit of a crap shoot and tremendous variations from one part of the country to another. Good luck.
