    Trim/Tilt leaking down overnight

08' 250xs Opti. Trim/Tilt leaks down overnight. I leave the motor trimmed up just a tad and the next morning the skeg is touching the ground. No visible leaks, pump and fluid reservoir are mounted in the boat and look OK. Do I need to repair this, and will it get worse if I don't? What's involved? Thanks.

valves in the pump might have a slight leak, but overnight I guess you could expect a slight leak like that in a 10 y/o pump? Before you go pulling things apart I'd replace all the fluid with the correct stuff - could be some wrong viscosity stuff in there maybe, or condensation/gunk etc. Easy and cheap to try at least!

Don't know a lot about the Opti's but if it has a manual release valve try opening it and run the trim up and down to flush it out some then close it and try it again...if that doesn't work it could be a ram leaking internally or a leaking internal valve/check valve. Just a couple of ideas anyway.

try loosening the relief valve and then tighten it again, this sometimes does the trick.

or try tilting the engine up a lot more so there is a bit more pressure on the seal and see if this makes a difference.

how long as this been happening ?
