I had a 24 Checkmate many years ago, I did not think it was that great in ruff water , nice boat but you need something bigger for offshore .
Dewitt DeWeese Jackson Ms. has one
Not all steps are good design and the driver has to understand the different technique in turning at high speed
The Concept was originally proposed by Rev. Ramus 1872...
First used in...
As Iíve noted, stepped bottoms are not for everyone, largely because a fully loaded boat traveling much below 30 knots simply isnít going to go fast enough to get up and ride...
Why is the cost soo high?
Materials to build a 28 cat can't be THAT much?
From that picture it does not look like real steps on the bottom of the rear sponsons??
cut outs but not what I would call steps , steps change the height of the running surface ...
I wonder how...

My first MVP boat 1982 was the factory Venus Hydrostream MVP boat , my motor builder / prop guy told me to put a 12 pad on it, sooo I did...
What a mistake , it would spin out like that pushing...
Must have that motor very high, do they use transom water pick ups?
Well you folks convinced me , I'm going to put just one motor on and see how it runs , 2004 250 XS on a 26 foot Sleekcraft ex inboard, I installed a 8.75 inch pad, 60 something ???
Is this pad boat ? if so how wide.
I'll SPLASH :iagree:
95 MPH @ 4,500 ...
Put a 26 on it and enjoy!
Never going to be a fast boat , just take the friends out and enjoy!
Not what I would call a true tunnel.
Tom Scott has done that kind of work behind his back with out a mirror...;)
I heard it you put one of them on your boat it's good for 5 MPH increase in speed! Added lift.
The funny thing is ARF never had a real fast boat in his awake hours
Or A Mercury high performance motor
BUT you believe the old sage has spoken !
Maybe a OMC does not like to spin high RPM's , more of a torque motor, Yes I still own one
BUT Merc's LOVE to spin high RPM's with out problems , as long everything is in good working...
Watch TONIGHT Rich!
