Cowling modification complete...

I got my cowling mod roughed in a week ago and tried it out Saturday. The first thing I noticed was an increase in sound. I can really hear those carbs breathing. Idled out the no wake zone and hit the throttle, I didn't expect there to be a huge difference off idle but the difference really seemed noticeable. I guess easing into the throttle to get about 5-6 mph allows just enough air to get in to be noticeable.

Once on plane the throttle response seems even more peppy than it was before and the more I trimmed it up the harder it pulled. Managed to hit 66mph a littler faster than I did before. I was happy with the results so I took the cowling off and fine tuned my cut out and got the edges of my cut painted black with some nail polish Angie's daughter had laying around. I know this cowl isn't supposed to have this front cover but I think it looks ok and I really believe it helped get some fresh air where it needs to be....right in front of those carburetors.

Thanks capt, I think it looks good also but I fear there will be those who think it doesn't fit or looks odd on that new style cowling. At any rate, it's what I have and can afford plus if it gets some better air in there then it does what I intend.
