Does anyone know what HP rating this engine might have?
IIRC 450hp
The LS6 was rated at 450hp, the LS7 had a big jump in compression and a lot more cam shaft.
I dont know if they ever put a HP rating on the LS7
I stand corrected, I knew one of the LS motors was 450....

states 454/460hp LS-7. Probably drasticlly underrated
ok fellas, a little LS knowledge here
:edit: these are the Gen3 and Gen4 LS motors. the 70's stuff is a bit um (old) beyond my knowledge :p
child of the 80's, what can i say?
LS1: 5.7L, rated at 300-330 hp
LS2: 6.0L, rated at 400 hp
LS3: 6.2L, rated at 400-435 depending on vehicle
LS4: not yet
LS5: pretty sure it's a fwd version of the ls3, for the monte carlo SS (could be wrong on this one)
LS6: 5.7L, 405 hp, C5 Z06 motor
LS7: 7.0L, 505 hp, C6 Z06 motor
LS8: not yet
LS9: the big billy bad ass, 6.2L (383 cid) supercharged. 620 hp, C6 ZR1 motor.
He's talking 1970, the good OLD stuff, not the new shiat. The good ls6 was in the Old's, one bitch'n motor. It would cost a bunch of money to reproduce one these days. If you could find the parts. My Dad had a 1970 Olds Delta 88, faster than the state troppers cars, he raced one and smoked it.
Seems if i remember,it was an aluminum block?
Is there a difference? car 454 block from a truck 454 block from a marine 454 block?
