mercury xr6 150 rpm's?
i have yet to pull heads to check port height of this xr6, anyone know? motor runs well but just doesnt pull the rpm's i've been told it should? i've been told it will never turn up due to porting, yet there's people on here that have proven that theory wrong. am i wasting my time with in in stock form? i'm running a 260 tuner, wh46's and wmh32's, stk 40amp flywheel. any advice would be appreciated! sean

You'll get tired of beatin' that hard head against the wall sooner or later... Port it and get the compression up... It'll do what you want then...

I think the XR6 have a similar timing box to the XR4. I know the XR4 retards the spark advance and mine won't turn high. This protects my oil pump:)

This stock 1993 150XR6 powerhead on a 15" mid and 1.87 Sportmaster pushed a Tuff 16 to 90 mph with a 32" cleaver turning 6100 rpm.

good one Noah... ha. i don't expect it to run like a promax or 245 carbed motor, i'm just trying to figure out if i have a problem with my motor? and yes, i'm hard headed.. ha and i'm coming to the conclusion you may be right about the 150. but it sure seems like it could do a little better??..

idle/spark advance box is long gone... thanks

260 tuner may hurt low & mid for sure. 46's were 200 hp carb I think, done a plug cut? Link and sync etc.

Yea, the wh46 and wmh32 are both 1.3125 venturi carbs. Mine 94xr6 came with the wmh32, first yr of the bigger carbs on a xr6. Both run the same on top. Both are jetted a bit rich, but nothing really explaining thr low rpm? I have a 26 pitch on order.

Was turning the current 28 before over 6500 on a stk 2.4.
