This
STV was ordered in late 2001 and delivered several months later as a 2002
model. Before leaving the plant it was treated to a bottom blueprint and
the custom rear cowl was fabricated, copying Raceman's design on his red
boat. The transom is factory cut for the hydraulic up/down champ housing.
System functions are monitored with six small
Livorsi Marine gauges as well as a
tachometer and GPS speedometer, both equipped with recall switching. The tilt setting is
displayed via a Livorsi LED trim gauge. There is also a tilt/trim computer
and an electronic timing delay by Nitrox. Up/down and in/out trim
adjustments can be run at 12 or 24 volts with the flick of a switch. There
is an In Control shifter in the right side for times when an XR6 case by
David Steckbauer is substituted for the MC1 Speedmaster which has the 1:1
gear ratio. There are dual Bosch pumps and fuel filters plumbed in a
parallel system. Plans call for upgrades to the 300 drag powerhead of an
SVS induction system complimented with a
Brucato fully adjustable ECU. |

Raceman's friend and business partner of over 20
years, "Holesaw," bought and rigged the boat new. After all the rigging and
fabrication was complete the boat was moved to the rear of his shop and as
of now has never been wet. This is the second time this scenario has played
out. Holesaw also bought a new Triad Intimidator in 1998. The boat was
rigged to excess and perfection as is this one, but languished in the rear
of the shop without ever having been run until this boat took its place in
early 2002. At the time of the purchase of the newer boat, the Intimidator
was sold to CJ Davis and it won its class at Jasper this year (Super Stock)
as well as every other ODBA race entered. |

Raceman says, "Unfortunately for the hobby, I acquired
all of Holesaw's surplus parts and pieces as well, so I suspect this is the
last boat he'll build. He's probably permanently moved on to other
hobbies. The quality and workmanship that Triad builds into these boats is
phenomenal and I feel fortunate to have acquired this one with the added
detail of the meticulous rigging and many one off custom pieces."
This STV will
also be featured in National Geographic's 13-part marine
documentary, "Marine Machines", which is scheduled to be
televised in early 2005. |
