Porting, heads, front half and intake, 6 carbs instead of 3, light weight hood, short mid, speedmaster style case, and different pistons.

These were just a starting point, most of them were further modified or they were not very competitive.

I know where one is sitting in the weeds but the guy doesn't want to sell it. He doesn't even know what it is but he still won't sell.

So what was special with the CCC (besides the obvious like gearcase, etc.) I mean powerhead wise? Was it a completely special engine (kinda like the T2X) or was it a stock ported block with different pistons and other internal components? It probably had bigger carbs and such. Different ignition to spin 7,200? My friend has one of these but unfortunately the power head isn't together so the motor is just a shell.
My stock 77 200 would spin 7200+.

I agree with Jim. I remember those engines well and they were VERY competitive right out of the box. There was a Johnson version referred to as RS.

I Guess I Would Have To Beg Your Pardon On The Non Competive Comment. In 1979 I Ran One Just The Way It Came From Waukegan. I Won The Hi Points That Year.

I was in the 6th grade in 79 and my memory is a little fuzzy about what I used to read about these motors. I was never able to actually see them race but I would have loved it! Especially watching one beat the vaunted mercs!

Were there any V4 race engines running in that era? I would kill for some pics!!

Guys - Use the forum search feature. There are plenty of pictures and discussion in old threads. Use keywords like CCC CC RS SR Stinger Strangler to turn up the old Evinrude and Johnson stuff.

There is also an old race parts catalog in the multimedia section.

Guys - Use the forum search feature.

whats worse is the ones asking about OIL... then a whole new pissing match gets started just like the 30 threads before it.

Search is not working right now. Greg is in the process of fixing it.

Search is working fine. I just tried on "Strangler" and got 69 threads. Try it.

is this why my 150 xp run's only 5600 then it wouldn't rev any more on 25 pitch, but jacking will over spin it with 21 alum on it is the computer shutting the rev's off

Your powerpacks are probably the ones that are limited at 5700. There are packs that could replace yours that are not limited.

Does it break down the lower unit? If so, I need some of those numbers...What gear ratios were available, Props etc.

swamppanther
10-09-2006, 09:57 AM
The CCC owners manual does not break the gear case down ,It seems
OMC guarded that stuff more than other parts, but I do have a copy of
the preparatory blueprints of the gearcase and it does have part numbers
although most of the numbers probably changed shortly thereafter, Email
me what you need and I will try to find it

Allen you could have cleaned the boat off before you took the pictures. Boat came from Austin Texas area E.Farrel who got it from Tommy Possie it was green and yellow at one time. ccc gearcase is 15-17 ratio LH part number was 388310 that number should be in corner of any blue print dealing with it. More pictures were posted a couple of years ago .

The one I took apart had 16:18 gears I just rechecked, the ad says 15:17. Does anyone know if the ad has a mistake or were there two ratios available?

Sorry Keith.what kind of wax do you favor, since i'll probably be doing Chucks after Jasper.

Freddie Webb
10-10-2006, 07:34 AM
I'll double check on the ratios. I know the sst100 gearcase is 16:18 but I am not sure on the optional ratios of the rs/ccc. The v8 has a 19:20 and an 18:20. Those are the only ones I know for sure. I have never checked my kr-15 gears but one is I think 1.62 and the other 1:1.

keith scotton

A good carnuba triple coat. talked to a friend he said he had seen two differant ratios.
