Dear S&F racing community of infinite wisdom,

This boat was advertised as a 1970 Glastron GT150. A bit of research informs me that Glastron never built a GT 150 in '70. I'm assuming the seller mistakenly used the "first year registered" from California titles as the actual model year and what I'm seeing is a 1971 Carlson CV16 with a bad interior restore job.

Has anyone actually ever laid eyes on a '71 CV16 and can verify that this is the real thing and I'm not wasting my money on a knock off? The only reference I can find mentioning a '71 is the sales flyer at http://classicglastron.com - none for sale on Ebay or the other usual sources. I'm probably going to pick this thing up tomorrow or Saturday complete w/ a Johnson 115 V4 2 cycle in a trade for a P4 laptop worth about $1000 or so.

I love the sleek lines of the Carlsons and a chance at owning a vintage 1st year CV is making me feel all warm and bubbly. Please tell me what I want to hear guys!

Do you have the ebay link? It looks newer than 70 to me.
It actually looks more like a late 70's CVX-16. Does it have the molded in swim steps on the back? The Glastron Carlsons are a very cool boat, it sounds like you are buying it right. There are a ton of them around, just so you know. If you are questioning wether it is a glastron or a splash, get the HIN number off it (post 72). That will also give you the year. I think they started with GC...the coding is on the classicglastron site I know.
Got any more pics?

LakeRacer99,

This boat isn't on Ebay. The seller is supposed to contact me today with the HIN numbers so that I may positively identify the hull. Here's a few more pictures:

That is an extremely early one, need numbers but I would guess it is right around that vintage. I know the 1st ones did not have windshields and have seen a couple that old here in MN. Looks very cool, I had a 76 and a beautiful 74 for many years. Love em.

Vintage...It does look to be an early CV-16...It has the flat back as opposed to the swim steps.
Great score, I think the 1750 would be ideal, just watch the transom for softness and cracking.

the picture does indeed look like the unique 1971 paint job; the 1972 was different although the boat was essentially the same. I had a 1972 with a 1400 Merc that was one of the best running family boats I ever owned.
There is a Glastron site that shows the 1971 & 1972 models. Mine came with a "GT" medallion on the front deck which was incorrect but apparently was installed by mistake or because the factory was out of the "CV" medallions.
A 1972 model cv-16 is also shown on the "bridges boats" site.
