Does anyone have pictures and or information about a GW Invader tunnel. It is approx. 17' long and is a glass hull, single seat and it says "Delta Flo" on it?

If it's the boat at this link it was called the Torpedo. Very Cool little boat, they road real high on the sponson's, lots of air. This link is to one that has twin 60 Scott's and run's in the mid 50's. Very cool boat.

Thanks, I am not sure if this is the one or not. The one I know about has been tucked away in a barn for a long time. The man described it to me as being more of a competition style tunnel with a cockpit and high side(that's my impressions of what how he described it). It is a couple hour drive and I was trying to get an idea of what it looked like before I made the drive. The boat you showed me is a very cool boat! I am looking for something different to put my stacker on. That hull is different and cool. I have heard from a couple old racers that the GW's were cool old boats in their day but were not the fastest around the course(which is ok too).

I guess I will have to drive over to look at the boat for sale maybe next week. I will take a camera with me. It might be something out of the ordinary.

I had one brand new in 1971 - put a 1350 with a Superspeedmaster on it - could not get the thing to stop porposing, and it did pack alot of air. Not that fast - don't remember the exact speed.
Funny thing was after I bought it, Big George DoBraff (sp) who owned Big George's Marine in Hartford Wi saw it and said be careful, if you stuff it it will open up like an alligator. Well, I stuffed it on Winnebago in April, ice wasn't off two weeks - and it did - opened up and broke about four feet of the nose off. I remember the icy water taking me and the seat right out the back. Managed to glass it back together and sold it shortly after to a guy in Milwaukee, name unremembered.

They ran several when the S-100 or Sport J classes first started back in the late 60's. Then the much faster boats came out. They were really slower than the 14 V-bottom even under race conditions.
IMHO they were slow dangerous junk when brand new and likely haven't improved with age.

Put that 135 with speedmaster on one of those V's and you are in the 70+ range.

 wow, termites and all Lloyd??? they must have made it pretty weak chewing it up for lunch!! boy im glad my ventura kept the air trapped in the nose cause i really love the boat and i would have been really upset if i lost it this past summer! i cant wait to get it lightened up a lil bit and stronger too, should make a aweesome lake boat especially since it handles soo good, it amazes me how good it handles although i have to be careful cause it has so much bow lift.. thanks for sharing your experience with this tunnel.. i hope i find a tunnel or even a 3point,something that would just be down right fast but still stable with a hot v6 merc on it!! thanks-- sean

I had a 1968 14ft V-hull that was rated for 100hp, and that model set a speed record with the 100hp at 78.6mph ( I had a 1979-115 merc on mine and it would do 78+ with ease most of the time I was running on the bullet/ lower unit.
~ I'm searching for a GW Invader Tunnel hull - project boat- ~ I can track down my old boat, I think..

mine was white and a pale green ( I repainted the whole boat white ) , the speed record that GW Invader set with my boat with 100hp was 78.6 mph..
My boat was faster, I had a 115 on it and I put a 14 gallon aluminum fuel cell in the nose of it for a counter balance weight.. boat only weight 250-300 lbs with no motor on it..

Very Cool:thumbsup:, I don't know why but I'm into that old boat line.. maybe it is because it was my 1st boat/ scream-n-fly boat...:reddevil:
I had a 1979 Skater18 but never got to run that boat, junked it it needed to much work to restore, now I wish I would have tried.

I have a 1979 Checkmate Timate II with a 240-250hp Black Max it is still not dialed in yet I have a 6in CMC jack plate and I have 63mph on GPS at 1/2 throttle and no Chine Walk-- I added a Whale Tail and that did away with the chine walk. I'm building a 2.5 - 280hp for it next.:reddevil:

I'm with you on liking the older stuff...guess as you said because its what I was around as a kid ( as I am 46 now) Bruster on here and 25ss have some reallt neat older stuff as well as many others. Kim Clecker is selling off some of his older cool stuff. I also happen to know of a very nice Invader Torpedo Tunnel that IF my $$ was right would be in my garage.

I think Largecar was referring to this single seat competition tunnel. It was called a Delta-Pro and was built by some of the former GW people in the same Sharpsville plant that produced GW invaders.
The shovel nose multi-seater was an earlier GW pleasure hull not designed for competition.
