Here is the block etc. Before any of you guys get excited, I know that these fuel pumps are not correct for the XS! This engine will be built as an XS. The serial # is in the XS range. I will post pics of the midsection etc. as it progresses.

I don't think they were forged in 1977. Besides, cast pistons are a lot more plentiful.

Yes. But I am not sure that the "j" stamp was specific to XS blocks. I know for a fact that "XS" serial number groups overlap other types and are different in different publications.
