Dan, you must have missed the announced rules changes here on Screamanfly

You can't post for sale stuff until you have contributed to Screamanfly by posting a number of questions or responses.

Dan, was the post an ad for something for sale or just a link to www.hydroracer.net where most real racers do hang out?

Hi Dan,

Don't let first impressions scare you away, its a good bunch here, really, like anywhere you will get a few that think they are the shiznet, but a TON of good info here.

Give S & F another try. Your site looks very nice as well, I had never heard of it.

Dan, since your post was deleted, I imaged it was an ad ... if it wasn't an ad, you are owed an apology.

Maybe the wrong person is moderating ... Greg can fix that ... after the apology

Sam, I'm kinda' disappointed and surprised at your response here after my E mail to you which was over 30 mins before this last post.

First of all Chad/Pyro only answered a question. He's not a moderator. The question was "why were my posts deleated" and Chad's answer was accurate. The deleated posts were in fact a request to submit videos to build a website, and there was a banner attached that appears to be part of some type of broadcasting enterprise.

Although there are several people who help Greg with the forums, we pretty well are all on the same page as to what he expects. Advertising by non-Supporting Vendors, links to websites that require registration to view linked posts, links to porn OR websites with porn links are ALWAYS deleated when they're seen by ANY moderator here. (the last 3 on the list aren't implied to have any connection to this situation, only listed as most of the reasons that get posts immediately deleated when spotted)

I'm sorry but if i understand this his deleted post was for infomation reguarding another bunch of hot rod boat guy's and if he was advertising a race or schedule then great for him and everyone who found out about them......Theres's only a small bunch of us (high perfomance guys) and we need to stick togehter and support each other by going to there shows and showing our support. I think this is what needs to be done if the sponsors see people they will be happy, if no one shows, no sponsors = No raceing. I for one love to see it when someone from another type of boating shows there support at our events.........Not only that but we may learn of an event that is close to home and a fun time to boot...

If he was selling then thats a different story........
by the way I did check his site and was supprised NOT to see a schedule????

Is it really so strange to think that someone might spend their hard earned time and money in an effort to promote powerboat racing without any monetary compensation?
Yes, in our little nich of kneel down powerboat racing, there are many folks who work tirelessly in an effort to keep our beloved sport alive.

Gee... Did anyone think S&F viewers might not enjoy watching boat racing videos?

Jeff,

S & F is a great site like previously mentioned, we just try and keep a good eye on things, that being said we love your kneel down stuff, where are you in Illinois, I'm in Belvidere, you should see some of the old kneel down race boats I can get my hands on, a couple that have canvas tops or caps ....whatever you want to call it, and the motors to go on these little guys WOW get a hold of me sometime, would love to show you the treasure chest of this stuff I've found.

Look around on here, you can find most anything your looking for, and discounts for a lot of stuff just by being a member...........if you like boats , you will LOVE this place !!

Welcome, and enjoy !!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Guys,

This is a simple situation. What I saw was Dan - an admin of another long-time running message board - posting for the first time here simply to link to his site. Alright, that post stayed up for a week. Then, he bumps it, with nothing more to say.

This isn't a personal issue, but I expect a bit more in terms of site relationships. We're not here simply as a vehicle to promote other sites.

I'm positive that if I made a similar post on his site, it would be seen as not in good taste. Contributing to a message board is great - but simply direct-linking and bumping tells me that the person posting has no intention of contributing to this site, except to draw more traffic to their site. We never did that sort of thing, and I just wouldn't expect it from another site admin.

Just wondering why? Was it because I was supportive of the Hydroracer.net admin? Was it because I corrected a mis-statement made by Raceman? Now guys are talking about breaking noses, ass kissing, sucker punching ... wow!! :(

Greg, what's going on or is this just normal behaviour here on Scream and Fly?

I was quite a little bi**ch too, before I got sucker punched a couple of times.

Neal, we have nothing against Hydroracer or Dan - why should we? Both of our sites have coexisted for years - which is precisely why I'm a little dissapointed by Dan's post. I don't mind that he has his links in his signature - but posting simply to direct-link with no other intent is poor taste. These communities thrive from contribution, not exploitation.

come on. can "x" business go to "y" business and put up a "x" business sign in the "y" businesses parking lot? if you follow the "x" and "y" you get the point.

I've never heard of Hydroracer.net but I can tell you this, your actions here on S&F are casting a bad shadow on that whole site.

Here's what I don't understand....................

A ONE POST MEMBER who registered here Sept 2003 and hasn't thought enough of THIS website to participate AT ALL with the exception of THE one post in almost 5 years SUDDENLY decides to try and see how much controversy he can stir here. His #2 post is a FOOLISH play on words saying that a "deleated post" (yep, that's the way I spell it) is somehow different than a post taken down by a Moderator and making a big deal out of the word deleted being spelled deleated.

Here's what I REALLY DON'T understand.............

So the deleated thread here that raised all this issue in the first place was basically an ad for another website, by ANOTHER member who doesn't think enough of THIS website to participate here AT ALL. (never posted here before the plug). So going to his website and attempting to register (wouldn't that be the purpose of an ad) brings up this message:

Sorry, registration has been disabled by the administrator.
So WHY throw up ads for a website if you're NOT allowing additional memberships?:confused::confused:
