Who all is going to the world finals in Phoenix in Nov? I will be working and can't go, good luck to those that go, Kevin I am sure you'll represent us well in the M/E class hopefully Kenny Shaw does well in his Ally. My buddy Bill Henderson I think is going to run S/E in his Mirage from Alabama. Jon Wright? Jim Dunn?

Good luck to all

It looks like I'll miss this year. It is a great place to watch side by side 240+ mph passes of the top fuelers. Good luck to all racers. Tom

Jim Dunn and I are plannin on making the long journey. Terry Gibbs is also planning on competing. John Wright blew up too much stuff at Smic to get it together.

Yea, thats for sure. It's not that bad, just one piston, and no windows in the motor. I could have put it back together and gone but I'm gonna go ahead and do the whole motor and have it really ready for next year.

I agree, the water there is like sulfuric acid, etches anodized alum. in a matter of mins. it does make a prop hook up good, the last time we were there in oct. of 1999, my brother set a record in blown alky flat,(Bad Company) 165 mph 6.95secs. broke records in three consecutive passes. The next race we went to in june of 2000 in St. Louis, 2nd pass ran a 6.70 et, didn't get to back it up, @ 1/2 track the boat barrell rolled about 6 times before nose diving and breaking in half. Thank goodness for capsules, he was unharmed. This was the 2nd major crash for us, the 1st one was in 1998 in Grand Rapids, Mi. in the alky boat we had been racing since 1985 the old Bad Company boat, upside down and backwards through the finish line is not good, took about 10 years off of my life, I think he blacked out enough to where it didn't even scare him, but he did walk arround for about 6-month like he was 100 yrs. old, beat him up pretty good as this was one of the 1st Tom Black capsules ever made. After the 2000 crash we called it quits but I must admit I miss big time.

Got off another race site;

"Tom Wedic in #729 ME crashed. The boat stuffed the nose at the finish line, I read that he is ok though."

I was there and saw that crash. It was brutal. I'm glad your brother healed up from it eventually.
John Haas crashed at the same race in a capsule hydro and broke his neck.
He's a glutton for punishment and went on to set the world record in Top fuel hydro several years later which I believe still stands.

Just watched the Whacker Smacker run, oh no to fast. But hold on, the other boat left to soon, red light. It was the gambler run, not for pionts but for cash from what I was told. Those little O/B boats can run.

had to leave befor finals. but jim dune won TE. jeff vale red lit on him. jim ran well all week end. kevin kraft got knocked out first round in ME. dam i wanted him to have a world champ stone dude, kenny shaw's merc got him to the semi in ME, blew two motors , patched em together made it to the rope, nice try, no cigar. got to idle the coarse waving to the standing crowd,sort of cool . keven kraft looked to win the gambler when we were leaving. there were two sdba mercs in the SE . i'm thinking one went to semi , have a call into richard my old crew dog, i'll post RR and SE as soon as i can.. jim dune, dune well. later greg.

Hey congrads on a great year Kevin. Those guys not running against starting lights don't know how much difference thousanths of a second can make in a drag race. To each his own but the lights really make for a challange, anyway congrads again on a great year. Have a good holiday season ole friend.
