Walmart inflatable ball?

It seems I read somewhere sometime about the effectiveness of putting an inflatable vinyl ball(typically available at Walmart for less than a buck) in between the jack plate and hull to help hole shot. Anyone know anything about this? Does the ball need to be deflated and then "installed"?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

The purpose of that is to eliminate carrying the water trapped in the jackplate with you during the hole shot. every little bit counts right.

So, do I just "jam" the ball in there and inflate it to maximum capacity?
