i picked up a boat that says stv on the side seems to be about 16 or 17 feet im gessing ,not riged and ruff shape.. what motor could be thrown on this thing to make a fun but safe ride

Well sinse you dont know anything about these boats I would say put a 150 or 200 on it and go through the learning curve safely

Being 16'-17' STV makes Me think it's a MOD VP hull, in which case I would say a 150 would be a good engine if Your not familiar with the high speed quirks of that hull... Good luck..

If it's a Summerford STV, the HIN number will start with SOD (not sure about them when the Carpenters and Triad owned the molds).

Mississippi boats the HIN was TIA
