90 Avenger Hot Rod 260

Found this on Boattrader just wondering if anyone knows much about the Avengers. It's got a 2000 Merc 260 with simmon 50 amp dig ECU head work exhust tuner sporty claims 80+ with a high5 prop. Seems to be a good deal 12k for boat motor and trailer. Needs 100 octane min and will turn 9k on the tach. It'a a bit much for skiing but i think it would be a blast to drive

Just an FYI, if it's really a 260, it's not a 2000. Last year of the 260's was 98. That isn't a sportmaster lower, it's a CLE. Standard "bass" midsection with an aftermarket cowling. Not a bad price, but not really a steal. ;)

Hey thx for the info ya maybe he said it was a 2000 260 hp hmmm makes me wonder now ya i was thinking 9 or 10k would be a better deal so the 260 and 280 were done in 98 although he said it is the merc offshore race motor maybe just the powerhead huh

I had an avenger years ago. solid boat but heavy butthe transom was rotted out but couldn't tell as the fiber glass was intact but the plywood inner shell was deterioted. had to rebuild the intire transom. infact I had a jet avenger and the same thing with the cut-out at the transom. check it carefully

k thx the guy told me the transom has been rebuilt with exta reinforcement to handle the new power
