I am thinking about racing either SportC or SST45. Which one has the most racers and races on the West Coast?

Thanks.

It depends on where you are at on the west coast? Sport C is generally active in No Cal but SST45 in active in all areas from Seattle to San Diego. You might try visiting www.sst45.com (http://www.sst45.com) we are racing in San Diego this next weekend at the Unlimited event if you are in So Cal  .

I'm in Las Vegas. It sounds like SST45 might be the best bet.

I'd suggest coming to few races within the traveling/driving distance that you can handle. Most coming from Vegas in the past have primarily come to So Cal and a limited number of No Cal races.

We always welcome new guys to come and watch or help in the pits and its a good way to learn what you are really getting yourself into. Check out my ad in the www.sst45.com (http://www.sst45.com) forum for my contact info and we can set something up.

Sport C and 45's are two different style classes. SST 45 is quite a bit more competitive with a group of people that race hard and clean for the most part.
Sport c is more of a group of guys that go out for a good time, and are competitive, but not nearly as hard driving as the 45 guys are.

If you are in it just to go to some local fun races, sport c might be a good option for you. if your looking at being part of a competitive tour that travels maybe sst 45 is better for you.
Ross Wallach is a good guy to talk to on the 45 aspect on the west coast, and Frank Banducci is a good guy to talk to on the Sport C's on the west coast.

Good luck;
Brian

Thanks for the info. I don't hear much about sport c on the west coast and just want to make sure there is a decent class.

Now that I have bothered you guys already, how is each class in North Carolina or the Southeast? I may be moving there by the end of the year. Again, I just don't want to do one or the other and find out that there isn't much participation.

Thanks

SST 45 is the class in the southeast that has a presence down there. If your going to move there, your mind should be made up to go run 45's.....
If you go to apba.org you can find out alot on the classes.

The southeast is composed mostly of 45's and 60's. Region 5 alone holds 4-6 regional races throughout the year in Florida and Georgia. Florida has 6-7 45's that run at these races. If your looking to start over here in the Southeast, that would probably be the best way to go, especially if you ever wanna get seat time before some series racing. Best of luck to you, you"ll have fun. If you ever need any help or information, I am glad to help.

I am also interested in 45s or 60s in the Southeast. Where can I go to find out more info on Region 5 events?
Thanks
Mike

Here's the link to the official APBA schedule: http://www.apba-racing.com/apps/race_schedule/index.php

Occaisionally there may be some input on www.hydroracer.net on their OPC or Region 5 forums (scroll down about half way): http://hydroracer.net/forums/index.php
