I raced in it.....so did George Linder.... and a few others in the Long Island area. In addition a lot of our Florida offshore friends ( Alan Brown, Aronow, Bobby Rautbord) and Lake X people raced in it as well ( The Sirois brothers, John Stenback, Odell Lewis, etc).

What is your question?

Was Southshore the Johnson dealership on Merrick Road/Montauk Highway?

I worked for K&K at that time in Island Park and we headquartered all of the Glastrons and Alims for the race each year.

My Father owned Southshore Boats at that time along with his brothers, after the move to west hampton sold out to the other brothers. The youngest Uncle Vic Levy sold out in the 90's, is now called Surfside Marine and is a Sea Ray Dealership.

A litte bit of useless history of Southshore Boats for Ya.

There was a young lady who worked there (Southshore) in the mid 70's who was engaged to Marty O'Neill Jr. out of O'Neill's in East Rockaway....another racing breeding ground..... There is a long and sad story that follows that.

When you moved to the Hampton's did you partner up with Geoff Briggs?

Of the Briggs and Stratton, Briggs?

He and his late brother, Tim, were top OMC team drivers in the 70's. Geoff owned a Johnson dealership in Westhampton.

Funny thing, I clearly recall the American Finns, and some OMC entries in the Around Long Island events...... but aside from Al Grover....I don't remember a lot of OMC success. As a Mercury guy....... I had little interest in the OMC's until they got serious about racing in 1966-67 or thereabouts.

No by that time my father became President of American Fiberglass and moved to Charleston and Then to Treasure Cay in the Bahamas Running a Marina. Which is where I was born.

I believe my father ran Chrystlers as well as OMC's...

My Father ended up marrying a Blonde Airline Stewaress (my mother) that ran his business with him if that rings a bell.

He does have some pics I can dig up, and scan if you are interested. I was just looking for some more and different pics from what he has
